9U/Tadpole Division
For both boys and girls turning 8 & 9 years old in 2027. (born 2016 & 2017)
Our 9U/Tadpole Division plays at Moody Park in New Westminster.
Spring Season
The Spring Season runs from early April to late June.
9U player evaluations will take place in February. This assists us in creating balanced spring teams.
You can expect 2-3 events per week. (combination of practices & games)
An arm style pitching machine is used throughout the season with an introduction to live pitching for second year players half way through the season.
Players will continue to develop their primary baseball skills such as hitting, base running, fielding, and throwing, with a concentration on having fun in a team environment.
Our 9U teams
- Base paths are set at 60 feet
- Pitchers throw from 42-46 feet
- games are 6 innings long (or max 2 hrs)
- Fair Play Rule 25 in effect

Required player equipment:
- Baseball glove
- athletic support cup (jock or jill)
- Baseball cleats (molded plastic/rubber)
- Baseball helmet, with chin strap
- Bat (optional – there will be team bats available)
- 9U: 30 inch max, 2 5/8 inch max diameter, unlimited length/weight drop – bats with greater than 2 ¼ in. barrel diameter must be marked “USABB” or stamped with BPF 1.15” (Bat Performance Factor)
- Baseball pants (grey)
- Jersey – loaned out by the program and to be returned at the end of the season ($100 jersey deposit required)
- Hat – provided by the program and yours to keep

8U & 9U Diamondsides Summer ‘Select’ Teams
We are running summer ‘Select’ teams for 9U & 8U in 2026
- these teams are for advanced players
- interested players & coaches should complete the summer interest FORM
- a tryout will be held in late May or early June
- Coaches and players will be selected based on try outs, spring performance, availability and commitment level.
- each team will be entered in one tournament
- *there will be summer team reg fees for those that make either roster
