13U / Peewee Division

Open to boys & girls turning 12 & 13 (born in 2013 or 2014)

New West Minor & South Burnaby Minor are merged for this division, playing as the SB/NW River Giants.

Our 13U/Peewee Division HOME fields are at Queens Park south fields, New West and Bonsor Park, Burnaby. 


SPRING SEASON 

We run a tiered 13U division offering ‘A’ and ‘AA’ teams.

Experienced athletes have the opportunity to try-out for our ‘AA’ competitive level team or can reg for our ‘A’ “house/recreational” level teams for the spring season. 13U player evaluations will take place in February for all players which assists in creating balanced spring ‘A’ teams.

  • Base paths are set at 70 feet
  • Pitchers throw from 48 feet
  • games are 7 innings long
  • Lead-offs, stealing are permitted, balks will be introduced
  • Dropped third strikes are playable
  • Infield fly rule is introduced

Required player equipment:

  • Baseball glove
  • athletic support cup (jock or jill)
  • Baseball cleats (molded plastic/rubber)
  • Baseball helmet
  • Bat (optional – there will be team bats available)
    • 13UA/AA – All bats must meet BC Minor Baseball standards, 32 inch max length, 2 3/4 inch max diameter, -10 max length/weight drop, marked “BPF 1.15” ** or “USABB” *
  • Baseball pants (white) & belt (navy or black)
  • Jersey – loaned out by the program and to be returned at the end of the season
  • Hat – provided by the program and yours to keep

13UA – is a recreational level and suited for most players. The ‘A’ level  is offered for those who prefer to participate in a more recreational style of play. At this level there is a greater focus on participation and increased opportunity to explore a variety of positions. Fair play rules are in effect. This program is also perfect for those unable to make a commitment to intensive baseball programming. Our 13UA teams play an ‘Interlock’ schedule with teams from other local associations. 

Spring season runs end of March – June, with Interlock playoffs in the beginning of June.

13UAA – is a more competitive level designed for experienced players who are invested in the game of baseball, are looking for a challenge and can commit to a robust schedule. At this level there is a greater emphasis on strategy and players begin to focus on a few key positions and explore training specific to those needs. 

  • ‘AA’ ID sessions will take place in Nov 2025 with the purpose of creating an invite list to register to participate in the 13UAA winter training. 
  • Open tryouts will be conducted for the 13UAA team in Jan or Feb 2026
  • Players not selected for the AA team will be drafted onto one of our 13UA teams. 
  • *Additional fees will apply for those that make the roster

Our 13UAA team participates in a Spring ‘Interlock’ schedule with teams from other associations throughout the lower mainland. Spring season runs mid March – June, with Interlock playoffs in the beginning of June.

SUMMER ‘ALLSTAR’ SEASON

We run 13UA & 13UAA summer Allstar teams. This is a competitive, fast paced and full schedule season intended for advanced players.

13UA & 13UAA ‘Allstar’ TeamsPlayers must have played a minimum of 50% of their team’s spring Interlock games to qualify to tryout for a summer Allstar team. Tryouts will be held in early June.

Summer ‘Allstar’ season runs mid June until the end of July when playoffs take place. Top teams qualify to participate in BC Minor Provincials at the end of July. Provincials can be at any association within BC.

All players with interest in trying out for either the 13UA or 13UAA team should be available and able to commit to participation in all team practices and games during the summer season as well be available to travel and attend the Provincials tournament.

Summer 13UA & 13UAA ‘Allstar’ levels are split into ‘East & West’ Interlocks, and game schedules are managed by BC Minor Baseball.*Players selected for either the 13UA or 13UAA ‘Allstar’ roster will be subject to summer registration fees.
