Parent Participation

We are thrilled to have you and your athlete with New West Minor|Diamondsides Baseball or the SB/NW RIver Giants programs.

As a non-profit, volunteer run organization we rely on families like yours to participate at both the Team Level and League Level so we can provide quality baseball programming and events for your athlete.

By contributing your talents and time throughout the season you are ensuring our program and events can continue to operate each year. We literally couldn’t do it without your contribution.

By registering your player in our program you are agreeing to chip in and do your part by fulfilling the required ‘League Level’ AND ‘Team Level’ minimum participation requirements. 

We do understand that some families have more on their plate than others and may know they will be unable to fulfill the ‘LEAGUE LEVEL’ minimum participation requirement, so they may choose to pay the $250 ‘League Level Participation BUYOUT’ FEE during registration. 

*Paying this BUYOUT fee fulfills the participation requirement at the LEAGUE LEVEL ONLY.*Your family will still be required to fulfill the TEAM LEVEL minimum participation requirement. 

We now calculate ‘LEAGUE LEVEL’ and ‘TEAM LEVEL’. requirements in ‘Participation Points’. 

  • Each hour volunteered at the LEAGUE LEVEL = 1 POINT
  • Each task/assignment for 7U-18U at the TEAM LEVEL = 1 POINT
  • Each task/assignment for 5U at the TEAM LEVEL = 2 POINTS

PARTICIPATION POINTS TOTAL per family/program: LEAGUE Level = min of 6 points (or pay BUYOUT or sit in a League position/role) AND TEAM Level = min of 6 points (or be a Head Coach, Ast Coach, Team Parent/Manager) 

Families are responsible for providing a “PARTICIPATION DEPOSIT FEE” before the season begins.  Deposit amount: $300 | Dated:  July 1 (of the current year) | Payable to: “New West Minor Baseball”

This deposit fee will be returned when your family’s LEAGUE LEVEL & TEAM LEVEL minimum participation commitment has been fulfilled, otherwise it will be cashed by July 15th OR  you have the option to pay the $250 ‘League Level PARTICIPATION BUYOUT FEE’ at the time of your player’s registration. *These funds may go towards hiring individuals for league event tasks, if needed.

‘LEAGUE LEVEL’ Participation:

To give your player a fun and exciting baseball experience our program relies on families’ to share their talents and time to assist with the planning and execution of our baseball programs, special events and fundraisers to help make them a success. Together we can accomplish our goals!

‘LEAGUE LEVEL’ participation opportunities:

  • New West Minor Baseball Board of Directors, SB/NW River Giants Committee members or being appointed for a League Role  (any of these positions = 6 points)
  • Helping at League Events such as; Player evaluations, Jersey or Equipment hand out, Opening/Closing Ceremonies, Photo Day, Fundraisers, in-house Tournaments, Skills Event.  |  1 hour = 1 point 
  • maintenance or tasks at our fields/facilities | 1 task = 1 point
  • Sign up for any of these League events/tasks HERE (coming soon)

If you feel your family is unable to complete the required minimum participation at the LEAGUE LEVEL before July 1, 2026 then please reach out to the Volunteer Coordinator to discuss your options or your deposit fee will be cashed.

‘TEAM LEVEL’ Participation:

Each season, teams also rely on families’ support to contribute to the success of their team by taking on game day tasks/assignments. (9U-18U Divisions only)

This participation is in addition to the League Level minimum requirement and is applicable even when you have paid the League Level Buyout Fee OR are a Board/Committee Member or in a League Role.

TEAM LEVEL participation opportunities:

  • Head Coach | Assistant Coach | Team Parent/Manager (these positions = 6 points)
  • Scorekeeping = 1 point
  • Pitch Counting = 1 point
  • Field Prep & Field clean up = 1 point
  • Operating the Scoreboard (where applicable) = 1 point

Helping out with game tasks/assignments, particularly field prep, will allow coaches to concentrate on coaching before and after games. Please come out, meet the other parents, pitch in and contribute to a fulfilling baseball season.

Your family’s participation points will be tracked and verified  by our Volunteer Coordinator.
